DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY
Our Collective Good's development philosophy is grounded in the belief that one must consider holistically all aspects of social and community development if one is to optimise positive outcomes. Improve health measures in a community, and educational achievements rise. Improve educational attainment, and employment opportunities increase. Ensure a clean source of drinking water and adequate food supply and fewer school and workdays will be lost. In short, the ability of a community to function effectively requires that many different facets of development are addressed simultaneously.
Our Collective Good prioritises close and respectful collaboration with local communities and with both local and international partners. It is a fundamental principle of the organisation to support the work of those teams who are doing excellent work and to integrate or replicate best practices in our endeavours.
Innovation is hardwired into the DNA of Our Collective Good, as it is into the wider The Farm consortium. The founder’s vision for The Farm is for the capacities and the resources of the entire group to be accessible for the advantage of other group companies. With great strength and depth in many areas - communications, traditional and new media, biotech, construction, community-building - teams facing development challenges encountered will have an array of innovative and powerful resources available to them.
Our Collective Good considers sharing the stories of the communities with whom it works - and the solutions that are applied - a critical part of its mission. In the spirit of collaboration and community outlined above, these stories may inform and inspire other practitioners, drive engagement and donations and provide a visceral and important record of the results achieved. Our Collective Good’s sister company Media Farm Studios works at the cutting-edge of new media, producing extraordinary films, documentaries and immersive content.
DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY
“With rare exceptions, all of your most important achievements on this planet will come from working with others—or, in a word, partnership.”
— Dr Paul Farmer, Founder, Partners in Health
